About Katherine A. Assmus

Biography

Katie Assmus, PA-C specializes in cardiology with a focus on caring for patients with all forms of congestive heart failure. Because this can be a scary and overwhelming diagnosis, Katie is passionate about supporting improved quality of life for her patients through medical therapy, education, lifestyle changes and connection to resources. She greatly appreciates the opportunity to help her patients recover heart function. She is also honored to care for and support patients for whom full recovery may not be possible.

Beyond patient care, Katie serves as a “physician builder” for Epic, St. Luke's electronic medical record (EMR). In this role, she helps translate computer/coding jargon to everyday language for fellow colleagues and works to optimize St. Luke's EMR for provider use.

Katie earned a bachelor's degree in athletic training from Whitworth University and a master's degree in physician assistant studies from Idaho State University.

Originally from Idaho, Katie loves spending time outdoors and especially cherishes time spent in McCall with her husband and three children. In her free time, she teaches English classes through a local non-profit that supports refugee women in the Treasure Valley.
